Changes to City of San Jose Paving Plans along Stevens Creek
Beginning November 1, paving from Monroe to Winchester will occur from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m., with the final layer placed during the daytime from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. during the week of November 7.
Striping and utility adjustments will follow and all of the work will be completed by 11/24. Bike lanes (class II) will be installed through the corridor.
The City initially planned to do the stretch between Monroe and Stern at night, but cold temperatures mean that some of the operations will be moved to daytime hours.
Some of the project will also be pushed to 2023 so that the work will be done before the annual moratorium begins.

  Help Prevent Statewide Rolling Power Outages by Conserving Energy from 3PM to 10PM ! Today’s Flex Alert from the California Independent System Operator (CAISO) is from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. Flex Alerts ask you to use less electricity during critical hours in order to help supply meet demand. If electricity demand exceeds supply, CAISO may call for rotating power outages. While Tuesday was the hottest day on record for San José, today is another critical day where we need everyone to reduce the demand on the electricity grid through use of backup generators and other conservation measures. Reducing energy consumption at your business can help prevent rolling outages: Shift energy use to before 3 p.m. or after 10 p.m. Use backup generation* from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. Set A/C to 78 degrees or higher from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m., as health permits Ask employees to work from home and power down around 3 p.m., if possible Turn off unnecessary lighting and unplug unused appliances Sign up for the Emergency Load Reduction Program to get paid for the energy you save *Consistent with the Governor’s emergency proclamation, any backup generators may be used to shift demand off the grid during a Flex Alert. The emergency proclamation suspends air district requirements. Please see this fact sheet that summarizes the actions of the emergency proclamation. Do not put it on dry grass or near any flammable materials. Read the owner’s manual and take all necessary safety precautions. NOTE: While no rotating outages have occurred, some San José residents and businesses have been experiencing unplanned power outages due to PG&E equipment failure.
